Which Would You Choose: Perfect Room or Headphones + Unlimited Plugins?

If you had to choose one, which would it be?

Option A: A treated room with near-perfect monitors and the perfect sweet spot… but only stock plugins.

Option B: Any headphones you want and access to all plugins.

It’s a classic engineer’s dilemma: do you trust your room and monitors, or your plugins and headphones? What would you choose?

Tripled Studio’s Take:
Our studio input is pretty funny. Some partners and engineers work mainly on headphones with their favorite plugins. That is often a solution when space is limited or sessions need to happen late at night because of noise restrictions.

Our first go-to is always a well-treated room because you can rely on it to hear the real balance and proportions in a mix. No matter what, you need one good, reliable base you know well, whether it is your studio or a reference setup elsewhere. From there, having a second reference option, like another room, a trusted headphone, or a reference studio outside your location, can make a huge difference.
